Feedback

Some recent feedback from Foulweather #1 readers (unedited of course):

I’m half way trough the zine and am digging it man. Max is a good writer and enlightened me on a number of issues. I was sort of against this new multiculturalism but have been looking at it from my point of view and a professors of mine that I had. I’m not against people learning their roots at all. I think it is great! I do like the older “melting pot” theory of the US and I used to pit multiculturalism up against it. The melting pot theory is based on we all are in the same hood no matter what color so let’s live and learn together peacefully to make this a better place. And what I have seen of some people’s ideas of multiculturalism is learning your past and incorporating those facets of your former culture into this one. Sometimes anger stems from studying the past (for good reason) and anger although it can be a motivator to learn more and better a problem is still a negative emotion. I’ve seen situations where it has divided a people from other cultures and produced a close minded community. We all know that is not a good idea. But that is a limited knowledge of multiculturalism and you know, I don’t even know if that is an accepted term anymore or whether or not people use it. Both of Max’s stories were eye opening to me. A lot of my black friends back east used to get caught up in the hate game and I used to tell them that “It’s not a black and white thing, but a rich and poor thing”. I think that oversimplifies it all and I see how the colonialism thing is going to have a long time to dissipate and die. Pretty cool man. Pretty cool. I’m gonna get back to your Bahrain story now. Pete,

Hey I really enjoyed the zine, wanted to correct aminor error in the Nike article. Air Jordan's where not a shoe until 1985, skaters were wearing the Nike Classic shoe in the late 70sand early 80's (the first Thrasher cover had a drawingof a skater wearing them).Anyway it was a good read, I really liked what you all had to say and I look forward to more.
