Days of War, Nights of Skateboarding

My kindly neighbor hooked me up with a scanner. So I've been scanning some old photos and articles. Here is a photo from Bahrain in about 1989 or 90 in Bahrain just before the first Gulf War.

I later wrote about skateboarding during the Gulf War for the premier issue of the now defunct Bail Magazine in 2003. Yes, that's Earl on the cover, not skateboarding of course.

This story has been re-written many times and makes up a small part of a bigger project I'm working on called 'Confessions of a Guilty Expat,' which is currently going nowhere fast...
