Future Primitives 2013
I've been waiting for a good excuse to use this Kevin Thatcher shot of Lee Ralph's slob-plant for awhile. Actually, I don't need an excuse. 2013 I'm going to learn to hunt wild boar bare-handed and do slob plants.
Well the world didn't end after but it is still ending. How fast might still be up to us? Maybe the faster the better? That way the planet can heal quicker from the blight of the last 10,000 years of human civilization. Or perhaps we can go back to go forward? Put the toothpaste back in the tube? Destroy symbollic thought and re-find direct experience, authentic unmediated existence? Hey, my child re-learned how to believe in Santa, so she says. If she can return to innocence why can't the rest of us? We'll re-enter the garden and keep the fences unerected this time. Until then, we shall embark on silly accrobatic shit like slob plants to compensate for the disconnect.
Human beings will be happier - not when they cure cancer or get to Mars or eliminate racial prejudice or flush Lake Erie but when they find ways to inhabit primitive communities again. That's my utopia. -Kurt Vonnegut
