Probably my favorite band logo/ symbol of all time is the Crass symbol by David King. As I understand it, the symbol was not originally intended for the band but was adopted a bit later. It represents symbols of power or 'icons of authority,' with the Christian cross, the Union Jack and the Swastika, eating themselves in the form of a two-headed snake. I'm not sure who placed it on the worn out back of this shattered human being? Maybe King himself? Either way, power destroying itself on the backs of average human beings is ever-so-timely. While this symbol will forever be associated with noisy British anarcho-punk from the early 80s, it stretches far beyond that time and place.
